profile articles
Mark Steinle has been the fastest British runner in the London Marathon since 2000, with a PB of 2:09.17. He made his Olympic marathon debut in Sydney and is a regular international on the roads having come from a strong cross-country background.
Welcome to the beginners section - our one stop reference for those taking up running for the first time - with subjects written specifically for those with little or no running experience.

In 'Starting out', 'Motivation' and 'Body' we look at general issues - how to take those important first steps, staying motivated once you have done so and some things to think about on the fitness front.

The rest of the section looks at particular areas that will be of interest as you get more into running - again these have been written specifically with newcomers to the sport in mind - each of the subjects is also covered in greater detail in the relevant section.
